CRMPI intro to permaculture

Join us on Saturday July 14th from 9am to 4pm for a one-day introduction and interactive experience to learn about permaculture design at the Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute (CRMPI) with Tia Meer, permaculture teacher and founder of Simple Living Institute from Orlando, FL. The morning session will cover ethics, principals, site survey, and site design. In the afternoon we will get our hands dirty and put permaculture into practice with a few simple projects including permaculture gardening, natural building, and water harvesting. How can humans live on Earth in harmony, abundance, grace and ease for eons into the future? Permaculture is the art of creating living ecosystems that imitate Nature to provide food, fuel and shelter. Through observation and analysis, Permaculturists have identified basic principles that underlie healthy, productive natural systems. By mimicking these principles, we can learn to create integrated communities of plants, critters, people and structures, thereby becoming more self-reliant and enhancing the places we live.

On Saturday morning, Feb. 5th, at the Louisville CO Library, Sandy Cruz, Barbara Mueser and Jason Gerhardt will present an overview of the permaculture approach, show slides of their sites, and discuss how permaculture may be of benefit the Louisville community. They are considering bringing their 2011 "Permaculture through the Seasons!" design course to Louisville.
Cost: FREE!

Sandy Cruz founded High Altitude Permaculture in 1992, promoting strategies for sustainable living in even the harshest conditions. She holds a Diploma of Permaculture Design from the International Permaculture Institute, has published a variety of articles, and has been interviewed for newspapers, radio and television. Sandy has taught numerous permaculture courses and workshops, and has trained 50 new permaculture teachers from all over the US.

Jason Gerhardt of Real Earth Design has practiced and taught permaculture design in diverse regions of the US since 2006. He has detailed knowledge of plant ecologies, food production and rainwater harvesting. Jason currently teaches for Naropa University, Prescott College, Transition Colorado and High Altitude Permaculture, and designs permaculture landscapes professionally.

Barbara Mueser of The Garden Muse has studied and practiced permaculture since 2007. She co-facilitates the "Permaculture through the Seasons!" design course and teaches local workshops. She is certified as a Permaculture Teacher, an Advanced Permaculture Designer, a Photovoltaic Designer and Installer, and a Master Gardener. Having created a sustainable homestead at her own site, Barbara consults, designs and installs organic gardens and permaculture systems for clients.

Steamboat Springs Intro to Permaculture

Via the Steamboat Springs Pilot:

At 7 p.m. Oct. 8 in Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library, Deep Roots and Transition Steamboat team up to host an Intro to Permaculture evening with Steamboat resident Herald Stout, who will discuss permaculture, community-supported agriculture principles and gardening as local economy.
