Colorado catchment law to change

Rainwater catchment is a key part of permaculture. It is one more source of a vital constrained element, especially in Colorado. Via The Rainwater Observer, I noticed that:
Kathleen Curry and Jim Isgar plan to introduce a bill to allow rural property owners to utilize rainwater catchments on a small scale. The bill will limit the catchments to properties served by an "exempt well," that is, a well that is allowed to pump regardless of priority because the amount of water produced is so small that it is assumed that no senior rights holder will be harmed.

Apparently, there was also a bill last spring that allows Colorado to start examining how best to utilize "rain harvesting" as part of an overall water conservation strategy.

Colorado Springs Food Bank to have permaculture gardens onsite

From the Colorado Springs Gazette:
Care and Share Food Bank's new headquarters is twice the size of its previous home, boasts energy-efficient features and emits a warm environment that speaks of its mission to feed the hungry.

...

The new location will also have vegetable and permaculture gardens run by volunteers, and an orchard with fruit trees. The food grown on site will be distributed through the program.

What a great idea? I wonder if the Pikes Peak permaculture group is involved.

Victory Permaculture

Stumbled on a new Boulder Permaculture website:

Victory gardens were used in the US during the 1940's to conserve resources and support the war effort during WWII. Today we face challenges as a nation and planet that rival those of fascist imperialism and every effort will need to be made if we are to overcome them.

Victory Permaculture is an avenue for creating change in the places we live. To claim victory over the distance and separation we have with our food, medicine, and the land we live on.

In the future we will be offering sustainability consultations and Permaculture designs for your homes and businesses. As well as classes and workshops for further education and skill building. Services will be offered both locally in Boulder County, Colorado and remotely for those interested.

Michael was a classmate of mine at the recent PDC I took--feel free to contact him for information on his services.
